It’s the account of a 20-year-old girl, Chanel Bonin from Canada, who uses the unsername @chanel and in this way the famous fashion house uses the @chanelofficial one. This is not such a serious problem but if you are a well-known brand in the fashion industry, you don’t want anyone else to use the same name as you do.
It is also really possible for the brand to file a lawsuit in order to get the handle name back. But something like that seems difficult as Chanel Bonin created her instagram account in 2011 and hadn’t joined it until 2014. It is likely that the fashion house will win the battle and the username but the young girl is still the one and only owner of @chanel.
