Maison Martin Margiela is changing. At first John Galliano was named its creative director, now they’re changing the brand name. Dropping the first name of its eponymous founder, the house from now on will be called Maison Margiela. The name change “reflects the evolution of the house”, a spokesperson for Maison Margiela told the New York Times.
But this “changing brand names” thing is no news to the fashion industry. There was a pretty similar situation when Heidi Slimane was named creative director of Yves Saint Laurent. Yves was omitted and the new name is Saint Laurent.
